Work Scope: Lead person to manage a 3,500 acre cattle and hay ranch in SE Oregon. Will supervise 1 to 2 employees. Duties involve all aspects of operating a cow-calf livestock ranch and related summer hay production activities (cut, rake & bale). Fall and winter work involves weaning calves, animal health, feeding cattle and calving mother cows in Feb-April. Summer work entails cutting, raking, baling and transporting hay to ranch feedlot. This is not a cowboy job, but horse skills are desirable.
Experience & Qualifications: Applicant needs to have good related experience including cattle handling skills and management capability to supervise employees. Qualifications include experience with farm and hay equipment including operation, maintenance & repair; a valid Oregon driver's license, a clean driving record and be drug free; physically fit and have the ability to lift 50# sacks of seed to load a grain drill hopper; ability to perform fence building, implement repairs and perform routine ranch maintenance.
Compensation: Monthly salary + nice 3BR/2Ba house, utilities, truck, beef + opportunity to run a limited number of employee owned cattle and/or horses on ranch. Ideal situation for employee with family including elementary school age children as local school is with 1 mile proximity.
