DescriptionLane County Behavioral Health Mission Statement:Enhancing individual and family wellness through integrated care and community connections.Information about division:Lane County Behavioral Health Services encompasses a broad array of services and programs. Services include treatment for children, families, and adults. Services can be accessed through a variety of programs focusing on mental health issues. Lane County Behavioral Health Services is a public mental health provider receiving funding from state mental health grants and client fees, some of which may be in the form of Medicaid, Medicare, and other insurance carriers' reimbursements.Adult Outpatient Services provides treatment for serious and persistent mental health conditions. We are focused on providing high-quality care with an emphasis on wellness.We provide individual and group therapies, case management, peer support services, and medication management with an emphasis on utilizing Evidenced Based Practices. All staff are credentialed and meet county and state requirements for their positions.Information about position:The Mental Health Specialist provides evidence-based treatments and supports for adults with severe and persistent mental illness in a community mental health setting.The ideal candidate will be a skilled, experienced mental health professional to provide assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy as well as some community outreach and crisis intervention. This position coordinates care with a team of therapists, case managers, psychiatric prescribers and peer specialists and may also work in partnership with government, law enforcement, primary care, and community partners.The ideal candidate will also have experience working with and be skilled at engaging, assessing and appropriate treatment planning with the SPMI population and will contributes to community mental health clinic development and continuous improvement efforts.Lane County Behavioral Health provides services to more than 1,200 individuals with behavioral health conditions. completes client interviews, obtains social, emotional, criminal and substance abuse histories, identifies client needs, and assesses treatment options; conducts mental status evaluations using approved diagnostic manual.Prepares written reports with diagnostic impressions for review by psychiatrist/physician.Develops written comprehensive community treatment plans based on identified needs; works with clients to establish goals and objectives and determines treatment methods.Provides individual and group counseling; guides clients in obtaining insight into their emotional problems and in changing behavior patterns; works with short- and long-term cases of a difficult nature.Refers clients to outside agencies for additional social, economic, and medical services as needed; arranges and coordinates service provision; develops support service information and referral procedures.Observes clients using prescribed medications for possible side effects and for effectiveness of medications, and refers clients to physicians/psychiatrists.Acts as special consultant to other community agencies serving patients with significant mental health needs.Serves as expert witness and consultant in civil and criminal proceedings; Additional InformationMental Health Specialist 1:Training:Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a mental health field, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.Experience:One year of some experience working directly with mentally or emotionally disturbed clients in the provision of behavioral health services is highly desirable.An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.For MHS 1 Only - When there is no professional licensure a QMHP-C Certification issued by MHACBO is required.Mental Health Specialist 2:Training:Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a mental health field, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.Experience:Two years of responsible professional mental health experience, including one year of experience specific to the program or area of assignment.An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.Special Requirements:
