Position Overview:

The City of Springfield is looking for a Traffic Project Engineer to perform professional engineering work on public works projects and public facilities.

Summary of Essential Duties:

Prepares, reviews and updates engineering and construction design specifications and drawings during project delivery

Participates in the development and implementation of public works infrastructure requirements and standards relating to streets, traffic control, and other aspects of public and private construction

Project management and construction inspection

Electrical design of street lights and services, traffic signals, communication systems, and related appurtenances

Application of Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) to public streets, and design and inspection of devices used

Ability to efficiently procure materials and services for traffic related activities and programs

Conducts studies and investigations, and prepares documentation ranging from brief notes to multipage reports

Effectively communicate and work with multiple stakeholders from public agencies, private businesses, residents and visitors to our city

Training & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in the field of Civil engineering, Electrical engineering, or a closely related field, and experience as necessitated.

Registered Professional Engineer with four years progressively responsible civil engineer experience (Journey level, Grade C43).

Registered Professional Engineer with at least 3 years of journey-level engineering experience performing such tasks as independently managing multiple projects at one time, designing more complex projects, evaluating progress and results and recommends major changes in procedures. (Advanced level, Grade C44).

Licenses and Certifications:

Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer or Electrical Engineer in the State of Oregon, or registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in a reciprocal state, and the ability to obtain Oregon registration within twelve (12) months of appointment. Other Professional Engineer registrations are acceptable if competency in the duties of this position is demonstrated.

Valid Oregon Driver’s License by time of appointment
