The Erb Memorial Union (EMU) is a department of the Division of Student Life. The EMU is a multifaceted auxiliary service that employs over 90 professional staff and 400 student staff, and serves over 15 thousand daily users during the academic year. We are currently looking for someone to join our team as a Custodial Services Manager.
Reporting to the EMU Associate Director for Operations, the Custodial Services Manager acts as working supervisor, overseeing in-house custodial staff in the performance of sanitation and labor needs to ensure customer service and safety, cost effectiveness, timeliness, sanitation code compliance and adherence to industry standards and practices. This position oversees custodial operation, performs standards inspections and surveys to gather information for maintenance needs to improve the common areas within the EMU. This position works cooperatively and collaboratively with EMU staff, all members of the Facilities and Event Services management team, and other institutional stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of custodial experience.
Two years of custodial supervisory experience or leading the work of custodians.
Professional Competencies:
Working knowledge of computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, e-mail, database tracking).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability or commitment to work with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience supervising or leading the work of staff and tasks where successful collaboration and coordination with other supervisors was essential.
Demonstrated experience with training and ensuring established standards are maintained.
Demonstrated experience in organizing, managing, tracking, purchasing supply inventory.
Experience in higher education facilities.
