POSITION TYPE: 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week), exempt, salaried

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Development Director must be passionate about the mission of HIV Alliance and philanthropy and is an experienced leader who will inspire others, including staff, board and volunteers. This position will work closely with the Executive Director to employ an innovative, comprehensive strategy to move stakeholders through phases of engagement that will: Build community loyalty, raise/leverage resources, and ensure that our donors and community members have a positive experience. This position coordinates all aspects of the development plan, including strategic initiatives, and is responsible for improving public understanding of HIV Alliance’s mission and vision and improving community engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement annual development plan and strategic initiatives, including regional strategies, that engages the board, staff and volunteers

Convene monthly Development Board Committee and support committee chairs

Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects and donors

Improve brand recognition among community/ donors and participate in the strategic initiatives to re-brand HIV Alliance

Support development of agency web site/social media profiles and content to increase traffic/engagement

Ensure that all agency communication and marketing is engaging and improves brand recognition

Ensure that all Development initiatives have clearly defined outcomes and impact goals and continually evaluate effectiveness

Oversee all aspects of agency events and effectively delegate duties to support staff and committee members

Engage and support board member and volunteer involvement in meeting development goals

Support the Volunteer Coordinator in implementation of the Volunteer Recruitment and Retention plan including regional engagement

Ensure that donor database is accurate, up to date and that donor information management is consistent with our policies

Provide clear, timely and accurate information to Finance Department regarding donations, sponsorships, and grants

Collaborate with Grants Committee to identify grant opportunities and oversee development of all grant proposals

Support and manage all Development employees and temporary staff, including Grants & Communication Coordination, Volunteer Coordinator and Development Coordinator and ensure all staff/board understand their role in community engagement

Oversee agency Education program, including supervising Education Coordinator

Support agency equity goals and initiatives, including ensuring accountability on development, education and volunteer specific goals

Ensure adequate volunteer staffing for programs and initiatives

Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director

Flexible scheduling including some evenings and weekends

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or three to five years related experience

Extensive knowledge of fundraising and demonstrated ability to create and/or increase revenue streams

Big-picture planner skilled at turning strategies into action

Expertise in motivational communication and ability to craft compelling, story-driven messaging and dynamic collateral materials

Leadership skills and ability to set challenging and attainable goals, to set priorities, to inspire others to high levels of creative performance, and to leverage ideas into action

Experience in effectively prioritizing needs in a complex work environment with multiple and sometimes competing agendas

Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of job performance

Proven strategic, organizational, planning and analytical skills

Excellent financial and computer skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Team player who is self-motivated, high-energy, enthusiastic

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and to represent the organization in a positive manner at all times

Valid Oregon driver’s license

TB test (provided at agency

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required

· Repetitive use of hands such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity necessary to perform various clerical duties, such as typing and writing.

· Frequent use of arms such as pushing and pulling to open and close drawers and cabinets

· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time at an assigned station

· Ability to bend, stand, and reach to be able to transport clients and to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds (harm reduction kits, naloxone kits, testing and education materials)

· Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of paperwork

WORKING CONDITIONS, TRAVEL AND ENVIRONMENT:

The duties of this job require individuals be able to work in non-traditional and community-based settings

The duties of this job require regular attendance

· Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

· Ability to work 5 days per week for a minimum of 40 hours per week

Travel to other locations as necessary to complete essential job functions

· Ability to transport self to job-related events and locations
