Job Title: Maintenance Specialist

Reports to: Director of Operations

Job Classification(s): Regular FT, Nonexempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Specialist will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. QUALIFICATIONS

● Related experience preferred.

● On-the-job training offered.

● Ability to follow instructions from, and report to, supervisors or senior maintenance workers.

● Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.

● Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

● Excellent organizational and time management skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

● Able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

● Able to manipulate tools, materials of substantial weight and/or awkward proportions.

● Able and licensed to drive a vehicle, able to load and unload tools/materials

● Able to communicate with supervisors and other staff using a computer or smart phone

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.

● Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.

● Plan repair work as needed.

● Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.

● Perform routine maintenance on building systems and large appliances.

● Clean and assist with upkeep of the facilities.

● Order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.

● Reviewing and responding to maintenance request documentation and appropriately processing records completion.

● Engage in respectful communication.

○ Listen carefully and communicate respectfully and clearly with everyone in the work environment.

○ Communicate positively and assertively with your supervisor and coworkers.

○ Use person-first or preferred language.

○ Maintain confidentiality and support privacy at all times.

○ Include the people being supported in discussions about their own lives.

● Promote the professionalism of the industry.

○ Model behavior that reflects IEI’s values.

○ Represent IEI in a positive manner.

○ Understand and follow agency systems, policies and procedures.

○ Complete time and attendance records (e.g. Timesheet) according to agency expectations.

○ Meet established timelines and deadlines.

○ Maintain satisfactory attendance to work shifts, staff meetings and other assigned agency functions.

○ Complete duties assigned by supervisor or designee.

● Other duties as assigned.
