About the Program

Cabana Apartments offers four fully-integrated units of Supported Housing that provide community housing for individuals with a mental illness. ColumbiaCare acts as a "mental health-friendly landlord" and partners with Lane County Mental Health and Human Services to coordinate referrals/admission to this housing program.

About the Position

We have an opening for Supportive Housing Support Specialist position. ColumbiaCare Services is looking for the right individual to work peer to peer, (meaning you are affected by mental illness), and are willing to share your personal experiences with adult consumers affected by a severe and persistent mental illness, while effectively managing your own symptoms. This position will be required to support in the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions; adhere to policies and procedures; perform clinical documentation, demonstrate professional boundaries and ethics; be willing to share personal mental illness experiences with peers; and facilitate groups focused on peer-to peer topics; May participate in review and/or interview team for prospective new clients; May assist consumers with direct community resources, shopping-on-a-budget, etc. In addition, direct care staff must be willing and able to successfully complete our Verbal and Physical Intervention (VPI) training, which requires performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques.

Work Schedule: Full time (40 hours a week) 8 hour day shifts

Qualifications

MUST have personal experience with mental illness and the ability to effectively manage own symptoms.

MUST be Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist through the Oregon Health Authority.

PREFERRED that State of Oregon QMHA credentials are met by one of our following criteria:

a) Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Development;

b) OR THREE (3) YEARS of verifiable mental health experience working with SPMI population in a supervised social service setting;

c) OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental mental health experience and training

Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver’s license, maintain a safe driving record, and the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.

Pay & Benefits

Starting at $17.50 DOE/QMHA. ColumbiaCare offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, which includes: medical, dental, and vision coverage; a wellness reimbursement program; substantial sick and vacation accruals (12 days per year each); once eligible, nine (9) paid holidays, and a 403(b) plan with a generous 6% company match immediately vested.
