Community Sharing Warming Center Activation Site Staff (Seasonal: November-March) Staff may work shifts of either 7 or 13 hours between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. when shelter activated. Employment status: Variable FTE, non-exempt, $20/hr.

Summary: We are looking for efficient, courteous team-players who have experience working with people experiencing homelessness to staff our warming center. The Activation Site Staff will staff the warming center on nights when it reaches 29 degrees Fahrenheit or below in order to provide a safe, warm place for people experiencing homelessness to sleep. You should have a strong work ethic and commitment to trauma-informed care. You should be responsible, attentive to client needs, and committed to providing a safe space and excellent service. Starting pay at $20 an hour. Background screening required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attending preliminary training, including policies and procedures, and de-escalation practices.

Welcoming clients, checking them in with the Lane County human services database, showing them the facility, enforcing quiet hours, waking them in the morning, and answering their questions.

Making sanitation rounds to clean frequently-touched surfaces.

Enforcing COVID safety precautions among staff, volunteers, and clients.

Distributing material goods and foodstuffs.

Packing away site materials.

Gathering trash, used bedding, and litter and maintaining general site cleanliness.

Providing guidance to help guests follow rules, resolving client conflicts and complaints, and maintaining a positive atmosphere.

Logging pertinent information regarding overnight events.

Working in small teams of 2-5 to ensure safety and comfort for all clients, staff, and volunteers.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

▪18 or older.

▪Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and staff information.

▪Ability to de-escalate conflict safely and responsibly.

▪Strong organizational skills.

▪ High level of energy with strong service skills.

▪ Ability to work with other team members to provide excellent service.

▪ Attention to detail.

▪ Reliable transportation to and from site.

▪ Helpful, courteous approach to resolving complaints.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual (English/Spanish), trained in HMIS database,

experience working with people experiencing homelessness or similar experience

working with marginalized and/or diverse communities.
