About the Community and TheaterKlamath Falls, rural hub to south-eastern Oregon and far-northern California, is nestled in the beauty of the high desert meeting the Cascades along the Oregon-California border. With a rich cultural heritage and a dedication to livability, wellbeing, and community pride, Klamath Falls is a west-coast gem. The Ross Ragland Theater and Cultural Center (RRT) is the only year-round, multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary arts center in a large geographical area and annually serves over 40,000 residents and visitors. The RRT is also the only professionally-staffed performing arts center in south-central Oregon, and enjoys extraordinary community support. In addition to producing and presenting its own programs, the Ragland is a community center that annually hosts over 400 arts, cultural and community activities and events. Built in 1940 and formerly known as the art deco-styled Esquire movie theater, the RRT re-invigorated the community's interest in the performing arts when it opened in 1989. Recently the RRT harkened back to its roots adding a big-screen digital theater experience, creating a large expansion in program offering. The theater boasts over 740 seats, state of the art sound and lights, a high-end digital cinema system, and a Cultural Center with the capacity to seat up to 240 people. The RRT is a sustainable facility harnessing the power of solar and geothermal energies. The RRT provides world-class performing arts and educational experiences that enhance community life in the Klamath Basin. As both a presenting and producing organization, RRT: 1) presents national and international touring artists to the community through its mainstage series, 2) produces performances featuring local talent in its auditorium and Cultural Center studio space, 3) presents art house and classic movies as well as cinema events, 4) partners with other community groups for cultural and economic development, and 5) offers comprehensive arts education programs for Pre-K through 12th grade, providing over 20,000 contact experiences for children in the Klamath Basin in partnership with the local school districts. The Executive Director is charged with overseeing all operations of the Theater. Supported by a dedicated eight-member staff, the Director acts as liaison to the board, supervises financial and fundraising systems and officially represents the Theater to the community. The Executive Director, in collaboration with a volunteer committee, is responsible for all programming of the theater. Executive Director ResponsibilitiesBoard Administration and SupportSupports operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members, facilitating Board communication and meetings, interfacing between Board and staff, supporting Board's evaluation of Executive Director, and cooperating with the board chair in the periodic review of Executive Director. He or she also advocates and promotes organization and stakeholder change related to organization mission. Actively involved in board recruitment, the Executive Director participates in orientation and overall board support Program, Product and Service DeliveryOversees and directs staff in design, marketing, promotion, procurement, implementation, and quality of performances and programs, products and services in partnership with staff. Formulates policies and planning recommendations to the Board for new programs and products as needed. Decides or guides courses of action in program operations by staff. Thinks strategically in evaluating programs for planning and development purposes that support the mission of the Ross Ragland Theater and Cultural Center in conjunction with the Board of Directors. Financial and Facilities ManagementDevelops/recommends annual budget in conjunction with the finance committee for Board approval and prudently manages organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations. Ensures all necessary legal forms, reports and other government work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Works with Facilities Director to address facility needs including maintenance, repairs and new physical plant developments. Fundraising and Resource DevelopmentWith support of the Board of Directors, oversees fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, reÂsearching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation as appropriate or needed. With the assistance of the Board, staff and conÂtractors, he or she will actively participate in fundraising events, grant writing and donor relations. Human Resource ManagementEffectively manages the human resources of the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations. Ensures staff and Board have sufficient and up-to-date information to efficiently and effectively conduct their respective tasks and positively interacts with the Ross Ragland Theater Volunteer Guild. Looks to the future for change opportunities in both staffing and programs. The Executive Director is the primary interface between Board and Theater employees. Community and Public RelationsAssures the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders. This position is a critical and high-profile position in both the local community and the state arts scene. As the spokesperson for the Ross Ragland Theater, the Executive Director will manage processes and systems to ensure a positive reputation in the community.  QualificationsIts not a job, its a life¦ Required Knowledge & Skills  Arts and cultural program strategies and implementation. Using initiative and independent judgment to effectively and efficiently implement arts and cultural programs.  Principles, practices and procedures of strategic planning, nonprofit legal compliance and development ethics. Analyzing organizational needs and prioritizing and promoting initiatives to meet resource development strategies and goals. Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations governing nonprofit administration. Assuming management level responsibilities and making appropriate decisions while assuring compliance with program goals and objectives.  Human resources management, laws, rules, and regulation.  Volunteer management and volunteer engagement.  Theater or small business financial management practices. Techniques and practices for effective, efficient and cost-effective management of allocated resources. An understanding of financial reports, budgeting, contract management.  Fundraising, grant-writing, and grant management experience.  Proficiency and/or experience in basic business and box-office technology.  Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. Analyzing issues, evaluating alternatives and making logical recommendations based on findings.  Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with local businesses, government representatives, funders and community-based organizations.  Highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in a related field.  Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience of 5-15 employees.  Minimum 2-3 years of experience in business or theater management.  Minimum 3-5 years of theater involvement.  Grant-writing and grant-management experience.
