Essential Functions:
F.D. Thomas, Inc. is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the payroll cycle including certified payroll submission and payroll tax reporting with associated components. The position will perform a variety of administrative duties to ensure that payroll is processed accurately each week.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process Full Cycle Weekly Payroll (union & non-union) for 900+ employees for 4 separate companies.
Strong experience in Certified Payroll, CA Prevailing Wage, Davis Bacon, LCP Tracker, DIR system, or an equivalent upload process. Textura experience a plus.
Full knowledge of labor compliance forms such as DAS140, DAS142, Fringe Benefit Statements, Labor Law Checklists, CAC2 and Union Status Letters.
Experience with Union payroll and associated fringe benefits.
Understanding of Union Fringe Benefit reporting.
Experience with Subcontractor compliance and certified payroll tracking & auditing.
Knowledge of California Public Works Apprenticeship Requirements and the California Skilled and Trained Workforce Requirements.
Processes wage garnishments and child support payments
Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks
Prepare, submit, and pay all monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax reports to all governmental jurisdictions
Prepare payroll-related entries and tax reconciliations in support of monthly close
Completes end of year payroll tasks
Performs all other duties as assigned, verbally or in written form
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years' payroll experience encompassing certified payroll and prevailing wage for multiple projects
Detail oriented with the ability to work independently
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and take on new responsibilities
Effective communication skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex data
Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Strong Excel skills
REPORTING:
Reports to the Payroll Manager.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon offer and pass a urine analysis.
