The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley is to provide year-round positive, fun and safe places for all youth, helping them build self-esteem and develop skills necessary to make right choices, becoming responsible and productive citizens. Now hiring Youth Recreation Leaders at all three locations: Grants Pass, Talent and Kerby.

Basic Job Duties of a Youth Recreation Leader:

Provide a fun, positive and safe place for youth grades K-12. Be an enthusiastic role model that helps to shape a great future. Boys & Girls Club strives to give youth the tools they need to make the right choices in all areas of their life, from healthy eating to physical fitness, and good sportsmanship to academic success.

The Youth Recreation Leader leads cohorts of up to 20 kids in various program areas of the Club while encouraging positive social recreation and good character and leadership. Areas include, but are not limited to:

Academic Support (Power Hour homework help, STEAM activities, reading, and more!)

Social Recreation (cards, chess, board games, tinker time, dance parties, etc)

Fitness and organized field and gym games

Playground

Arts and crafts

Field trips and community service activities

Health and wellness (socio-emotional wellness and healthy lifestyle activities)

This is a physical job, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and noise levels.

Helpful Skills/Qualities:

Passion for helping kids succeed in all areas of life

Healthy energy to keep pace with kids

Good problem-solving skills

Ability to supervise and engage youth between the ages of 6-18

Ability to work closely with other staff

Bilingual abilities a plus

Requirements:

Must be available Monday - Friday from 1:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for our after-school program. On certain non-school days and holiday breaks, hours will extend, but remain part-time between 7:30 a.m - 6:00 p.m.

Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

High School Diploma with a good start on secondary education or youth development experiences

Excellent clerical skills such as good phone etiquette, computer skills and data entry.

Good oral and written communication skills

Professional appearance and enthusiastic, energetic attitude

Maintain a positive, fun and safe demeanor at all times

In following state COVID-19 guidelines for school partnerships, employees:

Must be vaccinated.

Must follow the Boys & Girls Club COVID-19 Safety Plan.
