Kitchen Manager and Short Order Cook
Grants Pass Downs is a fun-loving, family-oriented company looking for a detail-oriented, flexible, and highly motivated Kitchen Manager and Short Order Cook to join our rapidly growing team in Grants Pass, Oregon. Grants Pass Downs strives to create an environment where fans can enjoy a day at the races and horses and jockeys can compete safely.
The kitchen at Grants Pass Downs serves our jockeys, owners, trainers, and other backside personnel. The Kitchen Manager and Short Order Cook manages the day to day operations of our backside kitchen and manages the kitchen and dining room staff. The successful candidate will have experience as a kitchen manager, at least five years working in food service and short-order experience. This temporary position requires you to work six days a week and holidays during racing season.

Responsibilities and Duties
Manages the day to day operations of the kitchen, such as establishing the menu, purchasing food and supplies, pricing food, and hiring staff
Trains kitchen and dining room staff
Develops schedule for kitchen staff to ensure coverage and maximize operational efficiencies
Maintains sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
Stores food products in compliance with safety practices
Education, Experience and Qualifications
Proven work experience as a Kitchen Manager, or similar and at least 5 years’ experience in food service
Valid Oregon Food Handlers Certification; Ability to obtain and retain OLCC and Oregon Racing License
Ability to effectively manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
Proficient with budgeting
The ability to speak both English and Spanish would be advantageous
