About the Program

Our Outpatient Services Program provides initial assessment and evaluation, treatment plan development, and provides clinically indicated outpatient therapy services, which helps maintain continuity of care for members within our community. This program will have behavioral health treatment teams that are fully integrated with primary care to treat the whole person in an efficient coordinated manner.

Position Details

We are looking for a qualified Behavioral Health Medical Assistant to work as a member of a collaborative, dynamic team. This position provides patient care services for individuals affected by a severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) in an outpatient clinical office setting.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:am – 5:00pm

Primarily responsibilities will include: placing new patients in rooms; take and record vital signs, current complaints and pertinent history for clients in an electronic care record system (ECR); preparing patient record data for licensed medical providers; setting up appointments, order medical supplies; attend and participate in clinical staff meetings and in-services; and other duties as assigned. In addition, you will receive crisis de-escalation training, which requires performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques.

Qualifications

MUST meet one of the following criteria:

a) Certified Medical Assistant Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AMAA);

b) OR a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT);

c) OR a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

d) OR Certificate/Degree in Medical/Clinical Assistant, Medical Secretary or Medical Administrative field

PREFER QMHA Certified through Mental Health & Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO)

State of Oregon QMHA credentials criteria:

a) Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Development;

b) OR minimum 6,000 hours verifiable mental health experience working with Severe Persistent Mental Illness population in a supervised social service setting;

c) OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental mental health experience and training

Additional Qualifications:

· Previous experience working in a community health setting, with clients experiencing mental illness, working with homeless and/or underserved populations

· Proficiency with records management (e.g. gathering, scanning, and abstracting chart materials); and ability to assemble medical charts and monitor, record, and report client progress

· Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues of diverse clients who are in a state of stress

· Ability to engage clients and act as their advocate when dealing with other team members

· Working knowledge of using ECR to schedule appointments and documents client data/care

Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver’s license, maintain a safe driving record, and the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.

Starting at $16.50 per hour/DOE.
