About the Program

The Veterans Resource Center connects Veterans and their families with the services they need “ starting with securing a roof over their heads. The VRC is focused on the overall wellness and reintegration of Military Veterans of all eras. With a primary focus on housing assistance, access to treatment, case management, and outreach, we take a holistic approach to addressing the individual needs of each Veteran.

About the Position

We have a Full-Time opening for Veterans Support & Outreach Specialist at our Veterans Resource Center in Medford, OR. If you have experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), or peer, then this position might be a good fit for you. This position requires the ability to work as a member of a direct care team to facilitate veteran support groups for GPD participants. Specialists will assist veterans with housing searches, rental applications and requirements, HUD/alternative subsidy applications, benefits systems, public transportation, employment searches and applications, and other related activities that helps veterans with self-sufficiency. Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm (One week a month on-call after hours)

In addition, direct care staff must be willing and able to successfully complete our Verbal and Physical Intervention (VPI) training, which requires performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques.

Qualifications

MUST be a veteran and be willing to utilize lived experience to assist our veterans in working towards independent living.

MUST have personal experience with mental illness and the ability to effectively manage own symptoms.

MUST be both certified and registered as a Peer Support Specialist through the Oregon Health Authority.

Preferred 2 years experience working with homeless veterans in a supportive role and familiar with the community resources.

Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon drivers license, maintain a safe driving record, and the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.

Pay & Benefits

$16.50-$18.50 per hour/DOE.
