The Creative Arts area of the Oregon Center for the Arts (OCA) at Southern Oregon University seeks a dynamic person with fantastic interpersonal skills who can serve as a hub for the Creative Arts community, fostering a supportive, energetic learning environment. We are seeking a strategic thinker with the ability to manage detailed administrative procedures; a good listener and office manager to collaborate with Department personale in a spirited and diverse environment. The Creative Arts Program Assistant will work closely with students, faculty, OCA Student Success Coordinator, visiting artists / scholars, campus personnel, various campus groups, prospective students, school groups, and the larger Southern Oregon community. We seek someone who can coordinate the marketing of CA programs utilizing University resources; University and OCA Newsletters, website and Social Media, as well as creatively adopt new opportunities and technologies. Creative Arts is firmly committed to providing excellent education and practical experiences, offering support to a diverse student population in Art and Art history, Emerging Media and Digital Arts (EMDA), and Creative Writing. Creative Arts works closely with the OCA Student Success Coordinator in retention and recruitment events. About the Oregon Center for the Arts: Within an interdisciplinary framework, the Oregon Center for the Arts includes state-of-the-art facilities in the areas of Creative Arts; (EMDA, Art and Art History, and Creative Writing), Music, and Theater. The OCA educates artist-practitioners and scholars in a lively environment that cultivates SOU's values of creativity and collaboration, with a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and the well-being and success of all learners. OCA is an academic division of Southern Oregon University and also serves as an important community arts presenter, partner, and producer. The Center for Visual Arts (CVA) facilities include three studio/lecture classroom buildings and the Schneider Museum of Art (SMA). We have six student run galleries and host frequent public openings. About the Creative Arts Program: The Creative Arts and The Center for Visual Arts (CVA) facilities, is an integral component of Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University(SOU). It provides education and practical experience in Art and Art History emphasizing interdisciplinary and collaborative thinking with studios supporting printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital media and fabrication, virtual reality and creative writing programs. Creative Arts programs offer four academic degrees: BFA in Art or Creative Writing, a degree for those seeking professional art training; BS/BA Liberal Arts degree in Art with a studio emphasis, a BA degree with an Art History emphasis, and a BA degree in Emerging Media/Digital Arts. In addition to its academic functions, there are numerous gallery exhibitions and performance art shows per year and Oregon Center for the Arts at SOU serves as a regional center for the excellence in the creative arts enhancing the activities and visibility of the arts in Southern Oregon. Minimum Qualifications:

- - Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience. College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualification:

Preference given to applicants who are knowledgeable in general office software including Gmail calendar and email; Banner SIS; Banner FIS; Internet and other SOU campus Information Systems. Experience with confidentiality consistent with FERPA and BOLI guidelines. Experience collaborating with and managing a variety of constituents. Demonstrated experience with collaborative strategic problem solving. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Art, Creative Writing or Communications. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner both verbally and in writing. Skill in using common office computer equipment and software. Demonstrated online searching and navigation skills. Demonstrated public service skills. Ability to work with a high level of productivity and accuracy/Attention to detail. Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others. Ability to adapt-in a fast paced and constantly changing environment. Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds. Ability to adapt to and work effectively in a heavily bureaucratic environment which requires regular interaction with a number of levels within the organization. Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development. Must be able to work additional hours and adjust working hours to meet special jobs.
