Overview
The Mohler Cooperative Store seeks an experienced and innovative leader for the
position of General Manager. The Mohler Cooperative Store is a full service, member-owned, equal opportunity
grocery store focused on our local community. Guided by the Co-ops Board of Directors, the GM is responsible for the leadership and management of the retail grocery operation.
Job duties
Manage overall physical operations of the retail store and ensure store is open during scheduled hours, maintain a work schedule (fill in when coverage is lacking)
1. Maintain store in a clean, organized fashion
2. Maintain store procedures to keep high levels of customer satisfaction
Oversee the company computer operating system’s (including AR,
cash, and inventory management)
1. Maintain customer information accurately
2. Recommend improvements for greater efficiency and
effectiveness
3. Maintain accounts receivable
4. Maintain adequate inventory of consumer goods and insure
accuracy with inventory counts
Ensure compliance with safety and security policies and procedures
1. Ensure all required notices are posted (Employment/Wage and
Hours Laws, OSHA)
2. Ensure first aid supplies available and employees know where
they are located
3. Oversee all on-site emergencies
Supervising Staff
a. Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and hiring new retail staff
b. Daily supervision of staff (including feedback on work, disciplinary action
as needed, training employees, and annual performance reviews)
c. Delegate work effectively to subordinates
d. Ensure retail store is staffed adequately
e. Develop employee work schedules and communication of schedules
f. Train staff on customer service, safety regulations
Summary
The job of the GM is to lead the cooperative so that it achieves the goals and
objectives developed by the board of directors.
Reporting Relationships
The GM reports to the board of directors. GM has the authority to hire, direct,
structure, and evaluate all other staff.
