Editor, Healthcare Dive

This role is based in our Portland, OR office. Healthcare Dive is looking for ambitious, curious and creative journalists to cover the healthcare sector, from insurers and hospitals to health IT. As an editor for Healthcare Dive, you will work closely with a team to identify, edit and write daily stories and features that lead our stories on a range of topics, such as turbulence in the Affordable Care Act exchanges, hospital consolidation, the use of AI, as well as federal and state policies. This beat will allow journalists to delve into rapid digital transformation among providers, as well as impacts to the industry from cuts to federal healthcare programs. You will help elevate all types of stories, whether it's a breaking news brief or an in-depth analysis of trends, as well as assist in planning and executing big projects. You will also have the opportunity to write, cultivate sources, and pitch stories on your beat.This position reports to the senior managing editor.We’d love it if you:Had a year or more experience covering the healthcare sector, health insurers, hospitals, digital health technology or other relevant life sciences industriesExcel at project management and collaborative projectsAre interested in working on innovative storytelling formats or data visualization projectsFamiliarity with publishing daily email newslettersKnow how to build relationships with important sources and report on complex subjectsCan prove a solid understanding of the economic forces at play in designated beatsHave experience reading earnings reports and can spot information useful for executivesWorked with freelancers, sending assignments, editing their work and providing feedback
