The Training Curriculum Developer will design and develop training materials for a substantial customer experience training effort that will be delivered to multiple bureaus. This will include trainings for line staff and managers, as well as recurring follow-up support materials for individual workgroups. Initial training delivery is scheduled for January/February with additional training efforts to follow. This position will work closely with the Training & Workforce Development team, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to identify gaps in service, barriers to improvement, and applicable best practices. The Training Curriculum Developer must also be able to follow the Bureau's equitable communication expectations to meet the needs of City of Portland employees and members of the public.


Work includes

  • Focus on design, development, and delivery of customer service training curricula and materials.
  • Participate in creation and delivery of training in instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and eLearn training formats.
  • Support technology training needs across one or more workstreams.

Desired qualifications
  • Experience in developing customer service/customer experience training for adult learners
  • Experience with change management
  • Experience supporting technology training
  • Experience creating presentations and eLearns in PowerPoint and Captivate, as well as job aids and resource guides
  • Familiarity with facilitating training in a virtual meeting setting for a diverse group of learners
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment, and to facilitate needs analysis session with stakeholders across a variety of workgroups
  • Ability to communicate equitably and operate within an equity-focused organization
