Do you love the smell and feel of fresh organic herbs?
Our organic family farm is looking for a few people to join our crew. We are in rural Aurora, only a few minutes from Woodburn and Wilsonville!
The Farm does all aspects of farming from planting seeds to packaging product for sale. Most of our crops are grown under cover in greenhouses and high tunnels. We are looking for people who are motivated to learn and work hard with all aspects of our farming operation. The positions are for year-round full-time or part-time (candidate's choice) work.
Tasks are often repetitive and tedious with conditions that can be hot and sweaty or cold and wet. Typical duties include harvesting, weighing, packaging, labeling, cleaning harvest and delivery totes, cleaning work areas, planting, watering/irrigation, mowing and weeding. These positions are hands-on working experiences that often require good problem-solving skills and taking initiative.
Hours vary depending on the day’s order, time of year and candidate’s desire for full or part-time work. Harvest days begin at 7:00 am and usually end between 1:00-4:00 pm. Part-time and full-time candidates must be able to work at least Sunday, Wednesday or Thursday, and Friday. Full-time candidates will work two additional days/week. We will try to accommodate any special days off requested in advance.
Job Candidate Expectations
- farming experience a plus, but we will train the right candidates
- ability and interest in outside physical work in all weather and temperatures, including extended periods of standing, kneeling and bending
- can work independently and can also work with a team
- keen observation skills, attention to detail and able to see subtle differences and defects with plants
- able to lift and carry 25 pounds
- has common sense and problem-solving skills
- willing to follow farm health and safety protocols, including Covid-19 rules of wearing a face covering while working in the packing room.
- has a positive attitude
- listens well to instructions, follows directions and gets along well with others
- organized and realizes the need to perform tasks efficiently
- good eye-hand coordination
- has basic math skills and is willing to aid with record keeping
- must have your own transportation! The farm is located in a very rural setting and is not accessible with public transportation.
