Background
Oregon Shines (https://www.oregonshines.com/) is hiring canvassers in the Portland area to sign up residential customers for Community Solar projects. What is community solar and what does this mean? (and no - we are not selling rooftop solar. This is completely different!)
Oregon has recently rolled out a community solar program: https://www.oregoncsp.org/.
In short, this program allows residents in Pacific Power (PAC) and Portland General Electric (PGE) territories the option to purchase their electricity from a local, clean, solar energy system and our company offers this electricity at a 5% discount. There's no cost to sign up, no hidden fees/catch, and a guaranteed savings. When a customer signs up for a community solar project, they will still get a utility bill from their utility provider just as they always do, but the utility bill will reflect that they have signed up for a community solar project and the savings will be automatically processed on their utility bill.
What we’re looking for
We are looking to hire 2-4 individuals who are trustworthy, dependable, honest, friendly and approachable.
If you have canvassing experience, great! If not, that’s okay too. We are looking for individuals who are willing to learn.
Individuals who can learn detailed information about our offering and distill that down so that the average person can understand (and is excited about) that offering.
Able to handle rejection in a professional, friendly manner.
Requirements
Access to transportation (personal vehicle preferred).
Must be physically able to walk and be on your feet for most of the day.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with other environmental organizations is a plus. Passion about clean energy and/or environmental causes is preferred.
Prior sales experience is preferred but not required.
Prior canvassing/door to door sales experience would be helpful.
Goals / Expectations
Need to sign up 5+ subscribers per day; 25+ per week; 100+ per month
Compensation
100% Commission based. $50 average/sign-up with potential for more.
