Position Title: Equitable Pathways Specialist
Host Site: Umpqua Community College
Location: Roseburg, OR
Hours of Service: 9am-5pm M-F with some evening and weekend hours (At least 1,700 hours over the 10.5 month term of service)
Position Duration: September 2019-July 2019
Summary of Position: The primary function of the Equitable Pathways Specialist at UCC will be to engage students in academic and social interventions through the roles of mentor and project coordinator to increase student engagement and on-time progress towards a degree.
Responsibilities and Related Tasks:
Assist in promoting activities and practices at the college that help students choose an academic pathway, find the support to stay on that path, and efficiently move towards a degree or credential
Contact students at various stages of admissions process to provide assistance and guidance for next steps to complete the admissions steps.
Identify the barriers at each step in the process and propose solutions for reducing barriers to getting on the path at UCC
Work with Peer Mentors, Enrollment and Academic Advisors, Career Coach, and Financial Aid representatives to point students to resources for barriers that prevent them from engaging with school
Administer program assessment and compose reports on continuous improvement efforts
Participate as a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council
Develop and prepare training materials and co-facilitate training, with support and guidance from the DEI Council, that promotes cultural humility and fluency
Participate as a member of UCCs implementation team of Guided Pathways, including participation in regular Oregon Student Success Center-led statewide cohort workshops
Create at least 2 service opportunities for students and volunteers
Engage in personal reflection
Campus Compact of Oregon AmeriCorps Member Responsibilities:
Attend all Campus Compact of Oregon required trainings and events, including orientation, monthly webinars, in-service trainings, graduation, regional cohort meetings and others
Complete and submit all Campus Compact of Oregon required progress reports, timesheets, and other paperwork

Duties are performed with frequent interruptions and/or distractions with fluctuating workload
Bending, identifying colors, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds
Standing long periods occurs rarely within the work year
Required Qualifications:
18 years and older
AA or BA/BS degree preferred
US Citizen, National, or Permeant legal resident
Ability to pass a criminal background check
Intercultural skills which allow the candidate to work effectively across race, class, gender and other dimensions of positional identity
Strong organization, problem-solving and written and oral communication skills
Basic office computer skills, including word processing
Use of Excel for data analysis
Program management (marketing, event planning, training, volunteer management) experience
Strong initiative; self-starter
Ability to creatively problem solve
Enthusiasm for helping others succeed
Willingness to engage in conversations about racial justice, equity, and racism
Preferred Qualifications:
Effective human relation skills with diverse people with regard to (but not limited to) social, cultural, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, military, economic, and religious backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to adjust to changing priorities and projects, sometimes mid-stream
Ability to coordinate multiple ongoing projects
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent, accurate word processing skills
Effective use of email, internet and network
Ability to work with minimum supervision and be part of an effective work team
Academic knowledge of critical theory and race relations in the United States
Experience applying an equity lens
