POSITION PURPOSE:
Assist other Tribal wildlife and environmental professionals in information gathering, wildlife monitoring, and habitat enhancement/protection.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
⢠Conduct population surveys/inventories on Tribal lands as required.
⢠Work with mapping and GPS equipment to monitor and track animals.
⢠Conduct wildlife capture and immobilization activities.
⢠Educate individuals and groups on local wildlife identification and population trends.
⢠Coordinate and lead researchers and visitors on tours of Tribal lands where appropriate.
⢠Identify animals within their habitats and search for habitat problems
⢠Participate in habitat restoration/enhancement projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
⢠A 2-year associate's degree in wildlife management, biology or a related field
bachelor's degree preferred
⢠1-2 years of field experience
⢠Experience in the following fields of study:
o Biology
o Ecology
o Wildlife management
o Natural streams and plants
o Wildlife management techniques
o Natural resource conservation
o Wildlife populations
o Forest ecology
