Yamhill County has one regular full-time position available for a Criminal Justice Behavioral Health Specialist. (Human Services Specialist II or III/QMHP) Duties include, but are not limited to, post-booking, in-jail diversion services, court coordination, on-site corrections behavioral health services, mental health treatment, court liaison, pre-jail diversion, community outreach, and pro-active engagement services with law enforcement for individuals at risk in the community. Duties for this position also include providing services with the Crisis, Assessment, and Triage team which may include providing crisis services, providing treatment to assigned clients, and maintaining current treatment records. This position works closely with an integrated behavioral health team therapist (QMHP) to provide services using training and experience in evidence-based practices for adults with co-occurring mental health conditions such as mental illness, trauma disorders, and/or moderate mental health conditions.

An MSW or master’s degree in a social services field from an accredited school and at least one (1) year of experience are required in addition to certification as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). The successful candidate must have an NPI number or the ability to obtain one upon employment. Training and experience in evidence-based practices and experience providing intensive mental health and addictions services in a community-based setting are preferred. An appropriate combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree. CADC is preferred but not required at hire; however the expectation will be for the individual in this position to be eligible to become a CADC Candidate and to complete the CADC I requirements within their first two years of hire. Successful completion of a background check is also required.

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration and partnership with the court, the court mental health program, and local law enforcement agencies. They must have working knowledge of techniques of community mental health and the following abilities: to understand the behavior of people under stress, to coordinate services and develop cooperative relationships with criminal justice, law enforcement, clients, their families, and the community, to maintain relationships with physicians, law enforcement agencies, the courts, public and private administrators, and the community in general; to interpret community mental health and chemical dependency services, and to prepare concise and complete treatment and progress records. Must be dependable, organized, a self-starter as well as team-oriented and computer literate.
