Behavior Specialist 1

Position Summary

The Behavior Specialist 1 position reports to the Behavior Team Supervisor / Program Support Director to ensure proper planning, management and evaluation of behavior support services and activities for their assigned caseload. The position involves working with individuals who are diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health illness, traumatic brain injury, and/or challenging medical conditions and who will potentially exhibit behaviors of concern. The Behavior Specialist 1 is responsible for many of Renew Consulting, Inc.'s behavior support services including the creation of Functional Behavior Assessments, Temporary Emergency Safety Plans, Interaction Guidelines, and Positive Behavior Support Plans as well as data tracking and staff training on behalf of Renew Consulting, Inc. clients. They may also collaborate with other administrators to develop Residential Service Plans. The Behavior Specialist 1 trains staff on positive behavior supports and Oregon Intervention System (OIS) philosophy and practices. The Behavior Specialist 1 is responsible for ensuring quality of services and contract fulfillment of consulting services for Renew Consulting, Inc. clients under the oversight of a Behavior Specialist 2 or the Behavior Team Supervisor.

Hours/Shifts

This is a full-time position. Shifts may vary, but will most often be daytime, Monday through Friday, may need to answer protocol/restraint notification program calls after hours.

Wage and Benefits

$14.00 to $17.00 per hour-depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work or related field, plus at least one year of experience using positive behavior support services for individuals who experience developmental disabilities; or

• A minimum of three years of work experience performing professional behavior services (including conducting FBAs and developing PBSPs); or

• A minimum of five years of work experience using positive behavior support services for individuals who experience developmental disabilities

• If not already certified, obtain Oregon Intervention System (OIS) Agency Instructor certification within one year of hire.

• Demonstrate competence in written and verbal communication skills and experience with Functional Assessments, Interaction Guidelines, and Behavior Support Plans.

• Must be able to obtain approval for employment from Oregon DHS based on the State's criminal history background check process.

• Valid driver's license and maintenance of a good driving record, meeting company insurance requirements.

• Must be able to frequently drive personal and/or company vehicle locally and/or regionally.

• Must be able to work frequently while standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, stretching, twisting, crouching, kneeling. Continuous use of hands/fingers and able to lift/transfer up to 50 lbs.

Behavior Specialist 2

Position Summary

The Behavior Specialist 2 position reports to the Behavior Team Supervisor/ Program Support Director to ensure proper planning, management and evaluation of behavior support services and activities for their assigned caseload. The position involves working with individuals who are diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health illness, traumatic brain injury, and/or challenging medical conditions and who will potentially exhibit behaviors of concern. The Behavior Specialist 2 is responsible for many of Renew Consulting, Inc.'s behavior support services including the writing of Functional Behavior Assessments, Temporary Emergency Safety Plans, Interaction Guidelines, and Positive Behavior Support Plans, as well as data tracking and staff training on behalf of Renew Consulting, Inc. clients. They may also collaborate with other administrators to develop Residential Service Plans. The Behavior Specialist 2 trains staff on positive behavior supports and Oregon Intervention System (OIS) philosophy and practices. This position will supervise staff, and/or client teams regarding behavior support services and activities and will co-author behavior support plans. The Behavior Specialist 2 is responsible for ensuring quality of services and contract fulfillment of consulting services for Renew Consulting, Inc. clients. As part of the position, the Behavior Specialist 2 may also assist with consulting on cases that are not directly assigned to this position.

Salary and Benefits

$19.00-$22.00/hour depending on experience

Qualifications

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) graduate level certificate in behavior analysis, and one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities, or

• Master's degree (MA or MS) in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, or equivalent, and one year of experience using positive behavior supports services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities; or

• Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, or the equivalent, and three years of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities; or

• A minimum of six years of work experience performing professional behavior services (including conducting FBAs and developing PBSPs) and no less than three letters of recommendation from case management entities who have approved FBAs or PBSPs authored by the applicant

• Current Oregon Intervention System (OIS) Independent Trainer Certification or obtained by six months of hire.

• Must be able to obtain approval for employment from Oregon DHS based on the State's criminal history background check process.

• Valid driver's license and maintenance of a good driving record, meeting company insurance requirements.

• Must be able to frequently drive personal and/or company vehicle locally and/or regionally.

• Must be able to work frequently while standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, stretching, twisting, crouching, kneeling. Continuous use of hands/fingers and able to lift/transfer up to 50 lbs.
