Job Description
Under direct supervision, oversees the operation and production of multiple tables and other assembly devices producing materials and parts for assembly into a variety of wood-based components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble precut wooden parts to build trusses and similar supports.
Move specified precut parts to work area and positions parts in jig by hand or using overhead crane
Following supervisor’s’ instructions and blueprint specifications.
Places metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints connect parts at joints, using hammer, screwdriver or pneumatic staple gun.
Verifies dimensions of precut parts and accuracy of assembly.
Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.

COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of construction tools and practices a plus.
Knowledge of safety procedures while performing lumber handling and sawing tasks
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints
Knowledge of basic math, angles and use of measuring tools
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). This is an entry level position where employee will receive on-the-job training.

Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.

May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
