Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Starting Salary: $18.91-$19.99 per hour

Reports to: Corrections Program Lead or Institution Manager

The Facilitator/Coach will work with adults in custody while delivering cognitive behavioral and Parenting Inside Out programming within a correctional setting at their assigned Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) institution. You will facilitate participants’ understanding of the program materials and development of pro-social skills and behavior; encourage and evaluate participant progress; and role model appropriate thinking, choices, and behavior. Your work is essential in supporting the mission of The Pathfinder Network and the Oregon Department of Corrections.

Your time management skills, excellent communication, ability to work well under high-stress emotional experiences, high level of empathy, and ability to keep strong boundaries will enable you to excel in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Serve as content champion on gender-responsive programming, and receive training and ongoing coaching on trauma-informed practice and the delivery of a gender-responsive service approach.

2. Plan, review, and prepare materials for the facilitation of classes.

3. Organize and inventory materials for facilitation of classes; set up and prepare the classroom.

4. Facilitate classes and ensure program fidelity by using a standardized curriculum and delivery model.

5. Provide evaluations of participants' progress and behaviors to agency and correctional staff, as directed.

6. Complete and process documents, paperwork, and reports as required by ODOC and The Pathfinder Network.

7. Provide timely and thorough communication with institution staff, and other Pathfinder Network staff and managers.

8. Provide completed personnel documentation in a timely manner.

9. Communicate and work with the Pathfinder Network Training team for professional development and to ensure continuous growth and improvement.

10. Attend trainings, staff meetings and participate in group observations, feedback sessions, and individual coaching.

11. Substitute in classes and facilitate support groups, as needed.

12. Continually increase the level of cultural sensitivity, awareness, and competency in all professional interactions.

13. Adhere to a high standard of integrity in order to follow security procedures and daily operations; maintain confidentiality of information received that will affect the safety and security of the institution, adults in custody, and staff.

14. Participate in agency events and activities.

15. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Please note that the working conditions described below are different during the COVID-19 pandemic. The description below describes typical working conditions once normal operations resume. As a Facilitator/Coach, you will be working in a secured detention or correctional setting. You are responsible for adhering to all of the rules and protocols of the assigned correctional institution or facility. You will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job requires long periods of standing while facilitating groups. Substantial walking is possible as many correctional campuses are large.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Typical days of work are Monday through Friday; however, evening and weekend work is occasionally required.

Travel

Occasional travel for trainings and meetings.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required

One year of related experience

Group facilitation skills

Intermediate level computer capabilities in use of databases, web-based environments, work processing, email, and spreadsheets

Must be at least 21 years of age to gain access to Correctional Facilities

Must be able to pass an extensive criminal history background check, employment verification, and drug screen (which does not include testing for marijuana)

All TPN employees, volunteers, and board members are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Booster shots are required for all employees as they are eligible by March 6, 2022.

Valued Education and Experience

Associate’s Degree

Two years of related experience

Non-profit experience and/or experience working in the criminal justice system

Experience teaching adult learners
