Job Summary: Responsible for providing triage (sorting/prioritizing patients) telephone service to ensure prompt identification of patients with high-risk conditions. Utilizes critical thinking, nursing judgment and standard triage guidelines to assure patient care needs are met. Functions independently to evaluate complex patient scheduling needs to assure patient is transitioned to appropriate level of care.Minimum Requirements: Graduate of a Pennsylvania accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN).Minumum of 5 years experience in clinical acute care nursing. Previous hospital experience required.Excellent verbal communications skills and concerned empathy for individuals seeking health care related information and assistance. Ability to work with computer input screens and proficient keyboarding skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Uses good diction and acceptable grammar. Is assertive and has a postitive attitude. Has the ability to learn a menu of services and develop cross selling skills. Flexibility to perform a variety of related and unrelated tasks throughout the day and work in a fast paced environment. Must exercise judgement in dealing with sensitive, confidential information.Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors of Science (BSN) degree in Nursing preferred (MSN)Experience in an emergency department (ED) setting. Knowledge of telephone-based clinical assessment techniques and medical practice telephone triage protocols. Knowledge of appropriate home health information for patients to follow until visit with physician, if they do not need an immediate ED intervention.Licensure and Certifications: Registered Nurse in PABSNMSN preferred
