Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a PROCESS CONTROLS ENGINEER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The Process Gases Product Line (PGPL) Group provides engineering support for the proposals and project development for new large capital gas generation and gas processing plants generally dedicated to the Petrochemical industry. Some example projects include hydrogen steam methane reformers, carbon monoxide plants, ammonia plants, Helium Recovery Units, Nitrogen Rejection Units, and various large-scale supporting equipment installations like pipeline compressors, PSA Units and off-gas processing units. Projects typically have budgets exceeding $50 million with most exceeding $200 million. You will be providing detailed engineering support, which could include supporting an in-house design team or supporting an outside engineering design firm. You will also provide support for upgrading/modifying and maintaining existing product and plant assets.
Travel is required, both domestic and international
Travel will include trips to plant sites, equipment fabricators, outside engineering firms, and customer locations (estimated at 15%).
Responsibilities would include :
Develop process controls execution strategies in conjunction with overall project development team during the bid phase
Responsible and accountable for controls cost estimates for valves, instrumentation, analytical equipment, DCS equipment, SIS equipment and labor
Participate in P&ID development
Participation in Operability and Hazard Reviews
Identify and manage process controls technical risk items
Develop control equipment specifications including analytical systems
PAS (Process Automation System) programming and integration
SIL assessments and verification
Control System Design reviews
Product Development for the major products (examples: HyCO SMR plants, CO Cold Box, Helium Purification, H2 Liquefaction) where your goal will be competitiveness by reducing installed capital cost or reducing the project Engineering Hours.
Qualifications :
BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with at least 8 years of applicable work experience.
Experience developing control applications with Siemens PCS7 and Step7 and Moore APACS and Moore Quadlog.
Additional experience with other controls platforms a plus.
You will need to demonstrate technical competence, leadership skills, communicate effectively, and be a strong teammate with a willingness to accept responsibility.
