Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world-class manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Senior Principal Process Systems Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania. You will work as part of the Process Gases Product Line (PGPL) Engineering Group, which is responsible for the design of Process Gas Plants (PGP) and related equipment for the production of hydrogen, syngas, helium, carbon monoxide, ammonia, syngas blends and carbon dioxide. The technologies supported cover high temperature processes and cryogenic processes. The Process Systems Engineers provide engineering and commissioning support for new large capital gas generation and gas processing plants generally dedicated to the Petrochemical industry. The backbone of the role starts with development and stewardship of P&ID's, leading operability reviews for new opportunities, development of plant operational logic, participation in hazard reviews, Participation in 3D model reviews, and field commissioning activities. You will be supporting diverse technologies that include both high temperature gas processing plant (Hydrogen Plants-Steam Methane Reformers, Gasifiers, and CO2 capture Amine based Plants as well as Cryogenic Hydrocarbon plants, CO and Syngas Cold Boxes, Nitrogen Rejection Units, H2 and Helium liquefaction units and Helium Recovery units. Travel is required, both domestic and international. Travel will include trips to plant sites, equipment fabricators, external engineering firms, and customer locations.It also may require extended ex-pat assignments in primarily the US, Netherlands, or distant cities within India (estimated at 15-25%).Qualifications :
BS ChE/ME with at least 8 years of experience in new plant engineering with a strong focus on plant operations/startups.
Additional hands on experience in lieu of a ChE/ME degree will be considered.
You should possess a multi-discipline understanding in process engineering, DCS/PLC controls, process safety and equipment design.
Have the ability to make sound decisions weighing operability, reliability, capital costs and operating costs.
You will need to communicate effectively and seek out technical expertise as required.
Process experience in cryogenic plants, specialty gas plants, or in high temperature PGPs is desired.
