Set up Technician will learn and operate, set up, change over, and trouble shoot primary and secondary machines and equipment within their department in a safe and efficient manner. The co-workers will follow SOP’s and Safety standards process and make recommendations to improve and optimize production operations. The co-worker demonstrates their competency in the use of 6S in all aspects of the operations. The Set up Person will also cross train in other departmentsEssential job functions and responsibilities:

Proficiently and safely operate and set up the equipment within the department.

Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to Production Advisor.

Utilizes established Lock-out Tag Out procedures when setting up or trouble shooting any piece of equipment.

Complete paperwork as required and accurately perform all quality checks for traceability where applicable.

Produce product which meets established Quality standards, reference form – WC 095.

Participate in updating Work, Packing or Set-up Instructions, Tool Configuration, and stay current on Work Instructions and SOPS.

Accurately perform and record required speed, torque, weld, and concentricity tests where applicable accurately.

Utilize the proper instrumentation (measuring instruments, micrometer, caliper, rulers, etc.) to validate set ups and be able to produce quality product at the end of a set up within your control.

Support production anytime you are not involved in setting up, adjusting or repairing a machine by operating a machine or packing and correctly scan in and out of each job you are on and enter data accurately.

Effectively utilize skills to set-up/change over pieces of equipment in the Crimped & Knot departments at a self-sufficient level and within an acceptable time frame, installing correct tooling, setting up work area with correct component parts.

Troubleshoot machine / make minor adjustments and clear faults as necessary on equipment as they relate to machine performance and quality of product being produced in the work center in a timely manner. If you cannot solve problem within 15 minute time frame, generate a work order for tool room assistance.

Develop skills necessary to produce acceptable product in. Be able to set-up any tooling necessary for trimming and assembly processes. Be able to recognize / troubleshoot problems within a set-up and / or tooling that make producing acceptable product difficult.

Work with Quality Department by providing communication and resolution as necessary to correct product quality problems.

Prioritize orders by due dates, make informed decisions on scheduling orders to minimize set up time and prolong tool life.

Record accurate data on all Quality Inspection forms that set ups were validated and all required speed, torque, weld and concentricity tests that are specified in the Routers, Work Instructions, and Quality Inspection Criteria were performed.

Utilize computer software and hardware effectively.

Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows the 6S Cost Reduction through Standardization, Waste Elimination and Housekeeping.

Take the necessary action to keep on time delivery of orders at 90%-95%.

Maintain accurate inventory by processing Return to Stock materials properly and minimize scrap.

Work overtime when needed (when scheduled 24 hours or more in advance for Demand Spike overtime and 3 days for Regular overtime).

Work as a team to support our departmental and corporate goals to meet our customer expectations.
