We specialize in the design and construction of high precision plastic and metal injection molds and the molding of tight tolerance plastic injection molded components. We are seeking a seasoned Mold Maker with experience in die sink and/or CNC EDM to assist with the construction of new plastic injection molds in our Tooling Division. Primary duties include: (a) Reviewing work assigned by the tool leader and planning the basic sequence of operations necessary to lay-out and machine parts; (b) Setting up and operating tool room machinery (EDM machinery, surface grinders, etc.) to build precision mold components and cavity/core details; (c) Inspecting machined parts to verify dimensions meet print requirements and to ensure that quality standards are met; (d) Fitting and assembling parts and/or complete molds to check function and prepare mold for pre-production sampling and/or customer delivery and (e) Communicating regularly with tooling, QA and production molding personnel on work progress and production activities.

Interested candidates should have at least 6 – 8 years of mold building experience in a precision Tooling or Machine shop environment and be familiar with EDM operations and other machining practices/techniques related to precision plastic injection mold construction. Previous completion of a formal Apprenticeship program is preferred, but not essential. Candidates should also possess detailed knowledge of shop mathematics, mold construction and assembly / disassembly procedures, and shop equipment used in a mold building facility. Candidates should also possess the ability to read 2D/3D mechanical blue print drawings and have good mechanical ability. Basic computer skills are preferred. A take charge attitude with sound decision making abilities and an independent work ethic are also required. In addition, the position will require an individual who can work to set priorities while also adapting to unanticipated changes to production requirements/schedules. The ability to cooperate with others and work as a member of a team in a dynamic and fast paced work environment is essential.
