Position Purpose:

Reporting into the VP, Network Strategy & Operational Excellence, the Senior Director, Network Strategy- Head of Plasma Systems Modernization will lead projects that impact multiple aspects of CSL Behring's plasma business. The role will provide leadership and strategic direction on the software and other technologies used within our plasma collection and logistics organization as well as the execution of major initiatives. As CSL looks to modernize its plasma collection and logistics infrastructure, the role must be a thought leader within the company with the ability to innovate and improve both IT and supply chain processes and systems.



The role will work directly with executive management within CSL Plasma & CSL Behring locally as well as globally; performing analysis on business cases and presenting clear recommendations on complex problems to Leadership Teams including the Global Leadership Group. The Head of Plasma Systems Modernization will be accountable for the assessment, design and implementation of new and innovative processes, systems and technologies to optimize CSL's plasma collection and logistics across our global network of plasma centers, warehouses and manufacturing sites. This will include optimizing and integrating CSL Plasma technologies into the CSLB manufacturing organization.



Near-term responsibilities will include leadership and strategic guidance for a large, multi-functional team working on the design and implementation of a new Donor Management and plasma logistics software which will span CSL Plasma and CSL manufacturing. Process and software development and implementation will encompass donor centers, laboratories, Plasma Logistic Centers and manufacturing operations and alignment with all senior management across the global manufacturing network. The candidate will be responsible for providing a unified development and implementation strategy and ensuring that the IT team and the external vendor have the information and guidance needed from all areas of Operations will be the key contact driving the development strategy. The candidate will oversee the significant investment CSL has made to upgrade our systems and ensure that benefits from this investment are returned. This role will interact directly with the COO and the Global Head of IT for CSL as well as all value streams related to the implementation of the donor management and logistics system.



The candidate must have strong project management skills and familiarity with highly regulated supply chains as well as demonstrated success with the implementation of donor management, warehouse management or other ERP systems in the bio tech industry.



The candidate will also serve as the Network Strategy Platform owner for Plasma. In this role, they will ensure that key strategies for network expansion are coordinated between E2E Operations and CSL Plasma to ensure the long-term success of the plasma collections business. Including, but not limited to collection volumes, geographic expansion, changes in collection or manufacturing technologies, plasma logistics and storage.



Reporting Relationships:

The role will be an individual contributor reporting into the VP of Network Strategy. As the modernization of the systems & process used to manage our plasma collections has been identified by the GLG as a critical initiative, the candidate will be expected to interface with Executives across both CSL Behring and CSL Plasma. They will work closely with the Digital Technology team as well as the CSL Plasma Leadership team. The position requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and collaborate effectively with all levels and cross functionally within the organization.

Internal: This role will interact with the Global Head of IT for Plasma & CSL as well as all value streams related to the implementation of the donor management and the CEO.



External Key Relationships: Dassault Systems



Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Responsible for the development and supervision of the long-range strategy and planning for the selection and implementation of business process and supporting software that will drive efficiencies and continued modernization of CSL's plasma collections and logistics.


Must develop a sound understanding of the immediate and long-term requirements of the key stakeholders across all work streams (DT, Donor Centers, Logistics, Quality, etc.) and assist in translating these requirements to the CSL DT team as well as selected vendors to both meet the near-term implementation timelines as well as ensuring that future enhancements can be added as necessary to support the growth of the business.


Must be have strong communication skills and be able to summarize complex business problems into concise presentations for Executive leaders. In addition, the Lead will need to establish excellent working relationships with external vendors as well as CSL team members to ensure that the program is successful.


In assition to experience with Understanding of the Plasma business is critical to the success of the role. As the role will span the full lifecycle of Plasma Collections from donor recruitment through pooling at the manufacturing site. Experience in any/all these areas would be beneficial to the success of the role; donor center operations, quality, regulatory, supply chain & logistics, information technology.


Candidate will form and chair a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts (operations, regulatory, quality, supply chain, etc.) to support strategic initiatives.


Identifying opportunities for improvement in our existing processes and tools, prioritizing needs against resource and financial constraints and delivering projects to meet the needs of the business, our donors and our patients.


Reviews proposals and makes recommendations for major CapEx and OpEx expenditures to senior leadership.


Establishes program governance and management forums to execute successful project approvals and reviews. Assures effective and timely communication of projects status, issues, key risks, and opportunities.


Manages specific business relationships as required to assure project quality and compliance, effective sourcing, required financial cost management including budget planning, capital forecasting and monitoring of operational expense, resource allocation, etc.


Manages, coordinates and integrates the work of multiple strategic external/internal partners to achieve program timelines and requirements.



Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

Education/ Experience



Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; education in a technical discipline preferred


15+ years of relevant experience in both Project Management & Information Technology


Demonstrated leadership/management experience


Experience within pharmaceutical/biotech/other regulated industry preferred.


Demonstrated success managing/delivering global programs/projects such as ERP implementation.
