Job Title: TechDepartment: Responsible to: Manager/SupervisorI. JOB SUMMARYProvides services for patients who are in the need of cardiac monitoring evaluation.Position is responsible for providing direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse through the nursing process appropriate to the age and needs of the patient population. It also implements clerical and technical aspects of patient care in accordance with established policy and procedures in a timely and efficient manner.Customer RelationsWhile performing the above, the employee will enhance positive relations with all customers includingbut not limited to: patients, families, hospital and medical staff. The employee will assist as needed with service recovery.Team Member Relations and Quality of Service

This position will willingly share knowledge with others, promote and support new roles, assist in staffing

needs, maintain safe environment, all to facilitate meeting organizational goals.

All the duties and standards within this job description will be performed according to the established

policies, procedures, guidelines and pathways outlined in the department and Center policy and procedure

manuals.II. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDelivers direct patient care under the direction of the registered nurse.

Responds to the demands of changing patient acuity.

Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for continuous improvement.

Practices quality service as evidenced through QI preparation and patient satisfaction.

Maintain positive customer relations with all customers of the Cardiovascular Services Department including patients, families, and other Center staff.

Maintain positive team member relations by demonstrating responsibility and accountability for enhancing positive relations.

Successfully completes basic arrhythmia recognition class offered by FMC Staff Development department and annual department competency for arrhythmia recognition.

Assists with or administers personal hygiene measures.

Participates in admission, discharge and transfer of patients and their belongings, applies and monitors patient safety devices appropriately (i.e., wrist restraints, jackets, side rails).

Performs daily assignments throughout the unit under direction of RN or Charge RN.

Assists with ambulation of patient and orients patient to the environment.

Assists with passing trays, snacks, ice water and feeding patients.

Assists patients with mobility. Turns and positions patients; observes and reports skin condition.

Responds to identified/expressed need in a prompt and courteous manner and records pertinent data on the appropriate clinical record.

Offers additional assistance before concluding each interaction.

Gathers and records patient data appropriate to the patient population served.

Observes changes or unusual occurrences in patient condition and reports them immediately to the nurse.

Provides patients and their families with explanation of care and offers psychological support under the direction of the nurse.

Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection control techniques.

Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment for patients and co-workers. Applies and monitors patient safety devices appropriately (i.e., wrist restraints, jackets, side rails).

As a representative of the Center, demonstrates responsibility and accountability for enhancing positive interactions and diffusing negative situations.

Accurately enters patient care orders into the order entry system.

III. OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESParticipates in and fosters an approach to continuously improving quality through Six Sigma methodology that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.

Ensures patient rights are respected and protects patient’s privacy by adhering to HIPAA guidelines in the management of all patient information.

Maintains a neat and safe work area.

Performs other duties as assigned.

The candidate will be required to successfully complete yearly competencies.

IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation:High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Attends in-service education programs. Participation in FMC University classes or FMC University graduate preferred.Licensure/Certification:

Annual CPR certification. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience preferred. On-the-job training.

Job Related Skills:

Medical terminology.
