Penn State Extension is seeking a self-motivated, reliable, compassionate individual with the ability to make connections to develop and build partnerships in the community, recruit local agencies for programming locations, and educate limited-income clientele within Venango County. The individual must have connections to the communities and the ability to relate to the clients you are serving, in a group setting, and a desire to facilitate/teach and influence individuals to improve their health through better eating habits and physical activity as well as helping to stretch their food dollar. This position is responsible for collecting evaluation data from participants to demonstrate the program impact to federal funding agencies. Minimal knowledge of nutrition required. Will provide in-depth training in research-based basic nutrition and food safety knowledge and skills using United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines/approved curriculum. Responsible to the supervising educator in charge of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). Must be able to work independently as well as part of an area team. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Skills and interests required: flexible, organized, enjoys cooking, able to manage time and schedule and keep accurate records, basic cooking and computer skills. Must have access to reliable transportation to perform almost daily travel within assigned areas and occasional trips outside area; mileage will be reimbursed. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
