TEAM OVERVIEW

The Advance Manufacturing Process Team provides up to full turnkey capital equipment deployment project management and engineering for new plating deployments as well as on-site plating optimization support to the plating plants. The AMP team will develop and provide innovative and transformative manufacturing process capabilities for plating. This position will be aligned into the Advance Manufacturing Process Team with responsibilities in Process Manufacturing engineering supporting primarily plating but, may be expected to leverage into other manufacturing processes as needed. The interest and capability for safe hands on engineering in a manufacturing and pilot shop environment is expected.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Data and Device BU, Advance Manufacturing Process Team is currently seeking a highly motivated engineer in

Manufacturing Process Development Engineering to provide the engineering, design, innovation, development, and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes including the next generation of manufacturing and digital factory technologies. This growth opportunity will provide highly valued global experience as well as developing advanced skills in hands on engineering, technical innovation, digital manufacturing engineering, manufacturing deployments, design for manufacturing and lean manufacturing. The candidate will work on high impact, high profile projects within the business unit and TE's various technology teams to deliver enhanced and transformative manufacturing capabilities for DND operations, to drive optimized productivity of existing processes, and implement the next generation of manufacturing and digital technologies.

The full-time position will be located in Harrisburg, Pa with periodic domestic and global travel likely.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary job responsibility will be to provide manufacturing process / equipment design engineering and deployment of key TE manufacturing innovation, optimization, capital and operations projects within the business unit. The engineer will need to be skilled in engineering design and digital factory concepts and applications. The Engineer will be expected to utilize a "hands on" approach to understand, set up and run experimental trials in various manufacturing processes and digital systems equipment, including in a chemical environment. The engineer will need to be able to learn and execute quickly in a multiple of design tasks as well as working effectively in a team environment during implementation of novel technologies at the manufacturing facility. Finally, the engineer must be able to organize, evaluate, analyze and communicate designs and data in a concise complete manner.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

A significant focus of this position will be process engineering across multiple manufacturing processes. The individual will need to be capable of quick learning to become very proficient and able to successfully apply innovative concepts. The engineer will be assigned to various projects across DND manufacturing operations, design, and development teams to develop and deepen critical engineering skills and specific manufacturing technical knowledge , as well as take advantage of both internal and external knowledge development opportunities. The ability to grow professionally into a technical expert and deployment leader for the next generation technologies will be essential. Willingness to travel globally for extended durations , when needed , and interest in working hands on in a manufacturing environment are key requisites.

WHAT YOUR BACKGROUND LOOKS LIKE

  • Minimum of B.S. degree in Engineering
  • 5 -10 years' of manufacturing or development experience
  • Six Sigma and Lean training preferred
  • Knowledge of detail plating tooling design beneficial
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential
  • Strong analytical and measurement skills including SPC & Power BI
  • Electrical/mechanical skills valuable for digital projects
  • Familiar with sensors, vision systems, robots, 3D printing is a plus.
  • Proficient with 2D & 3D design software and familiar with simulation software.
