This position assists in the oversight of the programming and facilitation of athletic and/or recreational activities at Penn State Beaver including varsity competition(s), individual or team practices as well as intramural and recreational programming. This position oversees the current intramural and recreational programming and fitness offerings, the development of new programs and offerings, and serves as the advisor to Game Room Club and Varsity Club to facilitate improvements and equipment within those facilities working with various stakeholders and meeting regularly with club officers. Responsible for developing and updating content for the student employee handbook and working with the Athletic Director to provide relevant training for Wellness Center employees. Works closely with athletic department admissions, marketing and others to review new web content, ensuring all external sports information functions are high quality. Works collaboratively with the Coordinator of Athletic Services to ensure all team content, photos, stats, and other social media initiatives are accurate and socialized properly. Provides oversight, delivery and development of relevant summer camps and clinics. Under the direction of the Athletic Director, oversee the planning and execution of a varsity sport, including recruitment, coaching, team travel, fundraising, outreach, lodging, meals, etc. Assist with recruiting and retention of all student athletes. Ensure facility user agreements and related processes for access and record keeping reports on usage and service needs to ensure quality and equipment are meeting unit standards. Supervises facility operations related to employees and recreational programming offered. Monitor and report on facility safety concerns as needed. Responsible for monitoring and approving budget expenses, including equipment needs and develops proposals for funding and equipment. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a college level athletics department is strongly preferred. Must have a demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, and develop student athletes; knowledge of the sport and a verifiable ability to teach both fundamentals and strategies of the game; must possess a commitment to high academic standards, and the PSUAC and USCAA philosophies. A successful candidate will have a reputation for integrity and demonstrate and foster a positive attitude. Practice positive and creative approaches to problem solving issues facing the department, evaluate and recommend changes and or improvements to increase the quality of processes, procedures, and policies of the athletics program. Penn State Beaver is a four-year campus within The Pennsylvania State University, a member of the United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC). Applicants must be committed to serving diverse student populations, versed in the sport, and have 1-2 years of previous years of coaching experience. Must be able to multi-task and have strong time-management and organizational skills. May be required to work some evenings and weekends. Must successfully complete the pre-hire background checks in addition to a motor vehicle report.
