Our Kitchen Assistant provides support for all restaurant kitchen activities with the main responsibility of food prep and plating. Specific duties can include, but are not limited to:
Food prep and plating
Sort, store, label and distribute ingredients; stock
Rotate stations in kitchen including toppings and fry station
Ensure that kitchen is clean, safe and sanitary according to regulatory and restaurant requirements
Open/Close prep and processes as applicable
Provide coverage for Cook breaks, vacations and other days off
Support Inventory, food monitoring, food rotation practices
Complete cleaning checklists and other logs as required
Requirements:
General understanding of the workings of a restaurant kitchen
Basic knowledge of food hygiene, storage and preparation
High standards of cleanliness
Ability to work well with a team
Ability to follow instructions
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Previous restaurant experience preferred but will train right candidate
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift 40lbs regularly throughout the day; reaching, bending
