Job Description and Responsibilities :
Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects relating to transaction processing, accounting treatment of all transactions, the aggregation of accurate historical financial information and ad-hoc projects as needed (i.e. process improvement and purchase accounting). This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The successful candidate will have a strong background in establishing and maintaining processes and internal controls.
Primary Responsibilities:
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
Execute and maintain close processes to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
Document and institutionalize processes and internal controls as QualTek utilizes a shared services model for all accounting and financial reporting activities
Review and implement technical accounting developments to ensure accurate financial reporting
Compare and analyze variances between actual monthly reporting and weekly flash reports
Provide monthly and quarterly financial information to ensure Bank Compliance activities (accuracy of AR agings) are performed in a timely and accurate manner
Monitor and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Work with the Accounting Staff and External Auditors to ensure a clean and timely year end audit
Supervise the general ledger to ensure correct configuration
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
Support special projects and workflow process improvements
Oversee internal control functions
Review all account reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate preparation
Review intercompany GL account reconciliations
Lead the development of policies and procedures
Plan, direct and coordinate work plan; assign projects, programs and activities; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; identify and resolve problems
All other duties as required
Requirements :
Education:
Bachelors Degree (B.S.) in Accounting and 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
5 years of professional accounting with at least 2 years in public accounting is preferred
Prior experience designing and implementing processes and internal controls
Familiarity with technical accounting topics and experience implementing to accounting pronouncements
Proven ability to Interpret and analyze complex financial transactions
Proven ability to prepare accurate financial statements, reports and analyses timely
CPA License or progress toward obtaining preferred, but not required
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Payroll software; Spreadsheet
software and Word Processing software.
Strong Excel (pivot tables, v-look-ups) and PowerPoint (process flow narratives skills)
Soft Skills:
Strong understanding of Selling, General and Administrative Expenses (SG&A), Profit and Loss Statement (P&L)
Strong financial accounting understanding; ability to interpret project financial indicators and use them as part of the decision-making process
Ability to think analytically and apply sound judgment, solve problems, make effective decisions, and act with integrity
Highly organized and detail orientated
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Strong organizational, administrative, interpersonal ,verbal and written communication skills
Time management skills; must be able to meet deadlines
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Individuals must have a valid drivers license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions
Sitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a day
Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day
Travel up to 5-10% of the time, including short notice travel. Travel may include local site travel or national travel depending on training needs
