We are headquartered in downtown Pittsburgh. Due to the pandemic, the position is temporarily remote with the option to extend remote work on a permanent basis. Fully-remote employees will be required to travel occasionally throughout the year.

The Team

Our Experience Strategy team uses human centered design to elevate the voice of our customers and generate concepts for improved customer experiences. Our team exists in the "fuzzy front end" of the innovation process. We are change agents leading business transformation and helping our business partners to embrace innovation.

The Position:

In this role, you will serve as a facilitator, strategist and innovation consultant for our product teams. You'll work with stakeholders to frame up challenges; design, prep and facilitate a variety of workshops, from strategy development and alignment exercises to co-design sessions and week-long design sprints; and turn the results into meaningful strategy and actionable next steps.

On a given day, you might find yourself:

  • Helping stakeholders identify, explore and frame business challenges.
  • Designing sessions with productive, design-thinking exercises that foster creative thinking, collaborative problem solving and stakeholder alignment.
  • Prepping and facilitating engaging workshops that elicit valuable outputs and positive reviews.
  • Drawing connections between workshop insights and business goals.
  • Applying learnings to influence business strategy and activate change across the business.
  • Crafting compelling stories and pitching innovative concepts to leadership.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation.
  • Creating a culture of innovation and iterative thinking by exposing colleagues to design thinking.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in program such as UX, product development, communication, anthropology, psychology or related discipline from an accredited college or university (comparable degree, associate's degree, and/or experience will be considered, including internships)
  • Experience in the health care or insurance industries a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in research, experience design, consumer product design, service design, product development, strategy, creative concepting and idea generation, facilitation, client management or related role
  • 2+ years conducting qualitative and quantitative research through methods such as interviewing, observation, surveys, participation activities, and document and literature reviews
  • Developing meaningful business or creative strategy through methods such as business opportunity analysis and identification, creative brief development, facilitation of collaborative ideation sessions or problem-solving workshops, concept creative and refinement, narrative development and/or pitching experience preferred
  • Demonstrate successful synthesis and analysis.
  • Client management experience preferred.
  • Use captivating channels to build empathy and communicate research insights such as personas, journey maps, and storytelling.
  • Experience working across the entire human centered design process from user research, insights, ideation, prototyping and iteration, experience design and bridging to implementation. Experience with any part of this process will be considered.
  • Experience supporting digital product development and proven ability to translate business and user problems into solid solutions (preferred).
  • Experience in the following with a depth of expertise in at least one area: strategy formation, ethnographic research, user research, storytelling, ideation, concept development, iteration, and rapid testing.
  • Prior facilitation experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of design tools including but not limited to Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Axure, UserTesting.com, Optimal Workshop, or equivalent software (preferred).
