Job Title: Sr. SAS Admin

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Working Arrangement: 100% on site during normal working conditions; client's staff currently has a one week onsite, one-week remote working rotation.

Duration: 4 months CTH position

QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL
  • A minimum of bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required, and equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a SAS system administrator.
  • Hands-on experience as a SAS administrator of the 9.4 suite in a Windows environment performing system monitoring, log analysis, performance analysis, performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Administer, Maintain and tune the SAS platform Environments. Provides SAS Platform capacity planning, metrics and performance tuning recommendations.
  • Experience with Security and Authentication and SSO topics (related to the access of source data, the access of data within SAS on the SAS servers across the different business organizations).
  • Experience using SAS Management Console (SMC). o Creating and securing folders.
  • Experience Monitoring Logs from within SMC.
  • Experience defining Servers and changing server definitions.
  • Experience creating SAS, RDBMS libraries (Teradata)
  • Knowledge of SAS configuration files such as autoexec, configuration and environment files.
  • Starting and stopping servers.
  • Backup strategies and implementation.
  • Creating Users. Groups and Roles.
  • Server Skills.
  • Understanding server security and folders and how they relate to SAS folders and security.
  • Security and Authentication (related to the access of source data within SAS on the SAS servers across the different business organizations as well as SAS integration with tools such as Active Directory/LDAP/) across multiple SAS products. o o SAS/ODBC access products and configuring to connect RDBMS servers.
  • Ability to install hot fixes, service packs, upgrades as well as add-on software components.
  • Understand basic Windows commands that will enable you to monitor SAS jobs, ability to move around in a Windows environment as required for basic functioning of SAS and a good understanding of how Windows and SAS are integrated.
  • Be knowledgeable of Base SAS programming (DATA step), SQL programming (i.e., use of SQL pass-through or PROC SQL). SAS data source connectivity to the following.
  • Understanding server security and folders and how they relate to SAS folders and security.
  • Experience in troubleshooting SAS Platform and client issues to root cause
  • Good written and spoken communications skills in English and thought leadership skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Hands-on experience as a SAS administrator of the 9.4 suite in a Windows environment performing system monitoring, log analysis, performance analysis, performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Acts as a SAS subject matter expert and liaison to SAS users and IT. As a member of IT, primary user base consists of Finance, Accounting, Corporate Business Intelligence users, among other core business functions.
  • Performs client installations & troubleshooting, uses SAS Management Console to define connections to data sources, define libraries, and create metadata objects and folder structures and manages permissions to metadata folders.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains platform security via SAS Metadata, Windows operating systems, LDAP/Active Directory, and data warehousing environments and manages metadata identities, users, groups, and roles.
  • Configures and tests communication between SAS and multiple relational databases and collaborates with storage, server, LDAP, DBAs and other IT administrators to support ongoing operations for meeting the business needs via the SAS environment.
  • Assists vendor with SAS software administration; including software updates, patches, and hotfixes as needed on Microsoft Windows Server platforms and performs SAS software configuration and license renewals as needed on Microsoft Windows Server platforms.
  • Serves as an escalation point for production and/or platform issues and acts as a liaison with SAS Technical Support to resolve outstanding issues within the SAS environments.
  • Perform bi-annual systems audit for all SAS environments for internal and external auditors.
  • Creates policies and procedures and updates documentation to meet compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for all integration points to and from the SAS environment, specifically with our Oracle Hyperion application.
  • Cross train other client's IT team members so we have an adequate support model and aren't relying on single individual for all SAS related items.
  • Provides SAS Platform capacity planning, metrics and performance tuning recommendations. Executes actions necessary to achieve and maintain optimum SAS platform performance, reliability and availability.
