The Senior Technical Designer is responsible for being the strategic leader for the technical portion of his/her own specific private label/ private brand of apparel, ensuring that the product meets or exceeds DSG'S standards for integrity of design, fit and construction details, garment quality, as well as on time delivery by collaborating with all internal and external partners.Responsibilities:Strategic leader of specific brand/brands for all Technical Design functions with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.Plan department’s workflow though out the season, anticipate issues & be proactive in regards to accomplishing all Technical Design responsibilities.Perform all Technical Design functions: garment fit adjustments, balance, patternmaking, grading & construction methods.Train and develop junior level Technical DesignersEnsure close vendor relationship on Technical and Quality concernsExecution of designers sketches in clear concise Tech Packs with all size specification and grading.Development of style specific blocks in PDM system with points graded to achieve brand consistency.Develop sewing construction by style using most cost effective construction.Research interior quality linings, interlinings to ensure best valued quality.Maintain consistent quality standards through fit, and pattern analysisEnsure garment quality standards by requesting product performance testing as need arises.Manage accurate written product and measurement specificationsManage consistency of fit across all product typesEvaluate samples, lead fit session and presentations.Communicating fit evaluations and maintaining standard grade rulesAlong with Project Manager, set time & action calendar & ensure timelines are met from first prototype to Top of Production approval.Responsible for accuracy on Tracking Reports, ETA's of sample arrival and Cut dates.Responsible for accuracy on Tracking Reports, ETA's of sample arrival and Cut dates.Managing your brands on time delivery through collaboration with internal/external partners.Managing the organization of garments and all informationAttend milestone meetings & be available to present & discuss fit, quality and any grading changes.Attend weekly brand status meetings as needed.Assist in model measuring & organizing & conducting model searches as needed.Advises manager if model is out tolerance.Ensure appropriate communication is provided to all associates to promote team building within the Brand.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Apparel, Construction or Textiles, or equivalent industry experienceMinimum of 7 – 10 years of multi-category industry experience3 – 5 years of grading experienceProficient with PDS patternmaking system.Organization: CorporateTitle: Senior Technical Designer - Women's DSGLocation: Pennsylvania-PittsburghRequisition ID: 20000IER
