Job Description:

Overview: Client is a diversified information management company that for over half a century has given market leaders the competitive edge in data management, analytics and technology. We are currently seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our Life Sciences division. MSA’s Life Sciences Division provides software and data management services to hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, research organizations and other companies dealing with complex medical and scientific data. MSA Life Sciences provides leading edge solutions that enable our customers to better manage and utilize their information. Our Life Sciences Division develops systems, software and interconnectivity solutions for the collection, storage and advanced analysis of data.

Responsibilities:
  • Create and manage multiple Oracle and Sql Server databases
    • Monitor Data@Factory performance
    • Monitor tablespaces – clean, add space and reorg as required
    • User management – new users and manage user permissions
    • Monitor and enhance nightly RMAN backup and export processes
    • Monitor and enhance monthly purge process
    • Write backup and restore scripts and design a backup strategy
    • Develop programs using PL/SQL and T-SQL
    • Support engineers with database operations including development and tuning of complex SQL
    • Hardware capacity planning and monitoring
    • Expert Unix shell scripting
    • Ability to create, maintain, and update processes using complex Unix shell scripts
    • Understanding of Unix architecture
    • Data Archiving
    • Managing archive server archive and purge processes and disk pace monitoring
    • Workflow administration of Automic Workflow process
    • Upgrade software as required
    • User management
    • Release Management
    • Gatekeeper for all releases in accordance with development process
    • Administration of the Jira Issue and Project tracking software
    • Hybrid in-office and remote work with majority of time being remote. Candidates must currently live in the Pittsburgh region or be willing to relocate due to occasional in-office work

Required Skills:
  • Requires a four-year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of DBA work experience including mastery of Oracle, SQLServer or other relational database software. Must understand complex and advanced database concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge of PL/SQL and T-SQL
  • Extensive knowledge of Unix shell scripting
  • Understand Oracle and OS architecture and interfaces between database and application
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks
