Our Pet Segment is seeking a 1st Shift Lead to be a part of our Kaytee division based in Pottsville, PA. You will be responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager with the daily operations of the Distribution Center. MEASUREMENT OF SUCCESS

Reviews shipping schedule and insures correct accounting of data such as Outbound ship log, Plant to Plant log, quantities taken from inventory from damages, and helps insure correct entry for sales order shipment data.

Reviews shipping schedule and helps plan shipping operations for there respective shift, by following priorities and sequences set forth by the Warehouse Manager for products to be delivered.

Inspects Forklift / Pallet jack equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Recognize and reports defective Forklift / pallet jack problems to the Warehouse Mgr., Maintenance Mgr. or Plant Manager, through initiation of a Maintenance Request Form.

Recognize and report unsafe working conditions to Quality Control/Safety Coordinator.

Develops or revises daily operations and working practices to ensure optimum utilization of time, manpower, and warehouse space.

Communicates daily shipping needs to Forklift / Order Selectors for the shift in a manner that promotes team work and a safe working environment.

Assists with resolving worker issues or submits unsettled issues to the Warehouse Manager and or Production Manager for action.

Ensures proper procedures are used for entering shipping data.

Maintains quality assurance by recognizing proper shipping guidelines. (Example: Product rotation, Inspects bags or cases for damage, Pick Pallet Sheets are signed for Quality, Labels applied when needed, packaging, cartons and pallets are to customer specification.)

Recognize defective materials/products through Quality inspections and reports the issues.

Keeps work areas clean, safe and orderly.

Reviews inventory levels and assists with cycle counting of product.

Audits picked pallets to insure correct quantities.

All employees are responsible for reporting food safety issues to those who can initiate corrective actions.

Cross Train in Logistics

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting in the appraising of performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 60 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

Forklift driving and PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) training and certification is required by Kaytee Products, Inc. (Training will be provided by Kaytee). Mathematical skills required-ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, and decimals. Ability to lift and/or move 60 pounds on an occasional basis. Must have solid organizational skills. Excellent attendance record is a must.
