Work Unit:Information TechnologyDepartment:Teaching and Learning with TechnologyFull/Part Time:Full–TimeDescriptionTeaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) is seeking a Web Developer with Ruby on Rails experience. As part of a small, agile development team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape a product from its earliest days in a flexible environment. We are looking for someone that will contribute to an energetic team environment, work independently without significant supervisory direction, and can integrate into and communicate with a team of developers, UX designers, project managers, and faculty while bringing a passion for technology and education. In this role you will be writing code, documenting requirements, preparing test plans, writing documentation, and following through to launch new teaching and learning products to faculty and students. We are looking for someone that can explain why we are building what we are building and is aware of how choices made in the development process can affect the experience of faculty and students. The ideal candidate will have experience with Ruby on Rails, general database knowledge, modern JavaScript (ES5, ES6, etc.) with exposure to at least one major JavaScript framework (e.g. Vue, React, Angular, etc.) Candidates should be able to show that they’ve built, tested, optimized and scaled Ruby on Rails applications and web services that are a delight to use in every way: fast, straightforward, elegant and powerful.
