The head Cook prepares food that meets current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations by following established policies and procedures and ensures that safe and high quality food service is provided at all times. He or she prepares customer meals to order by grilling, burgers and seafood. He or she would also be responsible for plating and garnishing of meals. The Head Cook is responsible for the general cleaning and closing down of the kitchen after service, ensuing all foods are properly stored and put away, along with proper cleaning of the grills and refrigeration units.

The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and one year prior experience in a food service setting. Additional culinary training/coursework highly desired but not necessary. He or she must be committed to the customers, reliable to his or her co-workers, and be a self-motivated, organized, and a detailed individual. Effective oral and written skills, good time management skills, communication skills, positive behavior and the ability to be a team player are all required for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares hot and cold food (entrees, soups, salads, etc.) following established recipes for all meal services and special events

Cleans work areas and all equipment used in food preparation

Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices

Restocks food supplies and takes inventory when required

Rotates food products to preserve quality and control waste

Maintains a sanitary workstation, using the "Clean As You Go" method

Helps in all areas of the kitchen

Is responsible for both food safety and restaurant safety by utilizing all safety measures set in place

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma required

One year of relevant experience is preferred but not necessary

Formal culinary training is a plus

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed

Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
