A leading manufacturing facility in York, PA has a long term opening for a Buyer/ Sourcing Specialist with technical mechanical experience. This position manages supplier quotes, releasing & expediting; it is responsible for sourcing of materials with regard to costs, deadline and quality. It is focused on the protection of the company's legal and compliance status, ensuring a globally consistent company approach in processes and supplier policies.Offers:

Primary Responsibilities:

Select suppliers using market research and market observation

Research & interview suppliers to obtain quotes, prices and specifications

Conduct negotiations and pricing for complex purchasing procedures

Deliver purchasing KPls and expected service levels

Create purchase orders for the acquisition of materials and services as required.

Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating supplier quotations

Retrieve and upload data from the ERP system (SAP/Navision)

Work diligently to insure that materials and services are purchased in the most effective manner at or below market level or cost estimates

Provide routine administrative support to Sourcing / Project Buyers

Adhere to company Purchasing Guidelines / SOPs

Qualifications include:

Bachelor degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent combined education and experience

5+ years purchasing experience in Heavy Industry / Manufacturing

Category management knowledge ( including cost structure, risk mitigation, market analysis, source strategy, integrated supply chain and logistic concepts)

Working knowledge of either: Fabrication, Machining, Castings & Forgings, Bearings, Electrical & Automation, Gearboxes, or Plant Utilities

Technical background with strong mechanical aptitude including ability to read technical specifications, drawings and production schedules

Good knowledge and understanding of legal, financial and commercial terms

Strong communication skills

Sound knowledge of business tools such as ERP (SAP, Navision) and Microsoft office
