MPH or PhD in a public health related field
5+ years SAS programming experience (beyond coursework) including:
Independent programming
Reviewing others' code for improvement/efficiency
Error debugging, including on code you did not write
Expert at: merging (including 1 to 1, 1 to many, and many to many merging strategies),targeted deduping (beyond nodupkey), defensive coding, coding across rows of datausing retain, lag etc., using/creating macro variables and macro code, using proc tabulate and proc sgplot for multi-level tables and graphs).
Understanding when to code wide vs. code long and strategies to do both
Experience with data architecture including:
Dataset building/design
Variable creation
Working with datasets part of a larger relational database. Experience knowing how to define a unique key to join tables and how to handle datasets with multiple records per unique key
Experience developing and delivering internal and public-facing reports with a focus on understanding the overarching questions/needs of the stakeholders and making sure the reporting tells a cohesive story.
