Primary Job Responsibilities:
Constantly and consistently exhibit Ocean House Management core values and standards of behavior including adherence to the Forbes 5-Star standards at the Weekapaug Inn.
Pro-actively greet guests warmly and provide pleasant and comfortable dining experience at the pace dictated by the guests.
Maintain a current knowledge of menu items, basic ingredients and preparation methods in order to be able to pro-actively describe selection options as well as answer guest questions.
Be prepared to offer recommendations as well as basic knowledge of wine pairings.
Communicate effectively with culinary staff and restaurant manager to ensure guest experience is as enjoyable and effortless as possible.
Engage guests with a pleasant greeting, explain specials and take drink and food orders in accordance with Weekapaug Inn Dining service standards.
Timely and accurately input guest order into system to ensure kitchen is able to prepare orders in a manner that ensures proper pace of service is maintained.
When drink and food orders are ready to be served, deliver to table in a comfortable and pleasant manner.
Evaluate the dining status of guests in order to ensure the proper timing of clearing used china, glass and silver and service of following course.
Assist Server Assistant in clearing used items as necessary to ensure proper pace of service is maintained.
Present final check in a pleasant and friendly manner with instructions about how the check will be handled.
Provide a warm farewell and invite guests to return again soon.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Complete required reports and paperwork to include closing out of registers after each shift as directed by supervisor.
Maintain room number and credit card information control and confidentiality.
Other duties as assigned.
Past Work Experience:
Prior hotel or equivalent guest service experience preferred.
Food server experience required, preferably in a fine dining food & beverage environment.Communication:
Exceptional ability to engage in friendly, polite conversation even if guest becomes upset.
Must speak clearly and understandably and write legibly.
Exceptional conversation skills.
Physical Requirements:
Environment: Performance of duties occurs indoors in temperature controlled setting.
Body Mechanics: Position will be primarily performed standing and requires constant walking, carrying and lifting up to 30 pounds or more. Requires use of computer equipment. Must possess strong mathematical skills.
