WANTED- Music teacher for part-time traveling teaching job
Highly reputable company with 25 years in the music education business is looking for teachers who can teach very basic percussion and/or elementary beginner ukulele to small groups of elementary students approximately 1-2 Mondays and/or 1-2 Tuesdays a month during the school year.
No prior experience teaching ukulele or percussion is required. If you have prior teaching experience, we can train you on the instruments.
Monday teachers would be driving to Southeast Florence County.
Tuesday teachers would be driving to Allendale County.
A teacher located centrally in the Midlands of South Carolina (less than 2 hours from either location) would be ideal.
Student behavior should not be any sort of issue. Students are well behaved and selected for these ensembles based on merit. The worst part of the job is the amount of driving. In some instances, you might be driving longer than you actually teach.
Music teacher must:
Be extremely reliable. This job is only 2-4 days per month and the employee would not have the ability to call out sickĀ except in extreme and fully documented instances
Be able to represent our company with their high quality of work, a positive attitude, and complete professionalism expected of anyone in the public teaching sector
Have the ability to pass a thorough background check
Possess a high school diploma (not GED); college degree of any kind is preferred, but not required
Enjoy working with children and have a friendly demeanor
Be willing to sign a contract and commit to teaching mid-October through the end of April (approximately 12-24 total days)
Be able to demonstrate basic proficiency on his/her primary instrument (or vocal ability)
Have excellent communication skills to provide daily updates to company about the success/struggles encountered during the lesson
Instrumental teaching experience is preferred, but vocal teaching is also accepted
Experience teaching elementary-aged students is preferred, but any documented teaching experience is accepted
Have his/her own reliable transportation
Paid training on the method used by our company
Compensated for fuel/travel
Unpaid training on beginner percussion and/or beginner ukulele (for music teachers who have taught but are unfamiliar to teaching these particular instruments)
Free use of instruments on which to train
