Our work depends on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) DevOps Engineer joining our team to support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) activities in Columbia, MD.At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As an AWS DevOps Engineer supporting CMS, a typical day will include:Deploying, automating, maintaining, and troubleshooting production systems to ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security in support of cloud-based system migrations.

Providing build, release and configuration management of production systems.

Managing continuous integration and source control environments

Monitoring system performance and implementation of monitoring tools, alerts and application components.

Participate in various requirements sessions with internal and external stakeholders and convert business / functional requirements into technical solutions, along with supporting materials such as use cases, designs, flowcharts, models, specifications, and reports.

Provide technical support to requirements, development, testing, help desk, and training teams.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business, or other related discipline

8+ years of experience as an AWS DevOps Engineer, with in-depth knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, EKS

Hand-on experience setting up CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub and open-source tools

Hands-on experience provisioning AWS resources using Terraform and/or Cloudformation scripts

Experience designing, implementing, developing, and maintaining AWS services-based solutions in emerging technology

Experience with developing and deploying serverless architectures using Lambda

Experience building scalable production systems (load balancers, master/slave architectures)

Experience securing applications and data using encryption services like KMS

Experience working with Security and Compliance tools like AWS SecurityHub, AWS Inspector, and AWS Config

Hands on experience troubleshooting performance issues

Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance and must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:US citizen or a Green Card holder

Experience driving technical discussions and explain best approaches to solutions and product options to meet customer needs and explain it to the non-technical department handling the issues

AWS certification(s)

Health Care Industry or CMS experience

Health IT experience in Federal Government space

Ability to work independently and interact regularly with government and non-government stakeholders at multiple levels of authority

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences
